Concrete Inspection with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
Baker Testing offers Ground
Penetrating Radar inspection services as an alternate to radiography of concrete. With our GSSI Structure Scan II system, we can accurately detect
and locate rebar, conduit, cables, and voids in concrete and other
non-conductive materials. To map large areas or to locate
target free regions for coring, Ground Penetrating Radar is
a valuable inspection system that operates with access to a
single surface allowing slabs on grade to be analyzed as well as
roof, floor, or wall structures. When passed across inspection
areas, the GPR antenna emits radio pulses that are reflected by
embedded structures. From a series of scans, target depth and spacing can be accurately determined and laid out directly on the surface for trouble free coring, cutting and structural analysis. In areas where complex or crowded target patterns exist, scanned data may be downloaded into a laptop
which generates plan view images with 1" depth slices up to 12" deep. In most cases, embedded structures can be located and marked out directly from the SIR 2000 system screen to depths of up to 2'.
