of the ultrasonic transducer. Using these coordinates, the time
consuming application of painting or drawing a grid system on
the component is no longer necessary.
With this automated
system, 100% coverage may be obtained that is traceable to

They show thin areas in both views of a 180 degree circumference of a welded 6-inch diameter, 1/2-inch wall carbon steel pipe section. The data was obtained with Baker Testing Services gridless erosion/corrosion data collection and analysis system. Total set-up, acquisition, and analysis time was 15 minutes.
To measure changes
in component thickness, ultrasonic dual and single element transducers
are used. Areas of wall thinning are digitally recorded for immediate
evaluation or may be stored for viewing at a later time.
