Baker Testing offers portable UT services for a wide variety of applications, from L-wave thickness measurements and surveys using programmable memory devices, to complex shear-wave weld inspections for utility, piping, and structural applications.

UT penetrates materials with ultra-high frequency sound vibrations and measures return of sound waves to evaluate material thickness and internal integrity. Using state-of-the-art technology and instrumentation, sound emitted from transducers allows skilled technicians to measure and evaluate internal discontinuities that could indicate material flaws which may otherwise go undetected.

Ultrasonic testing is an accurate, cost-efficient, and rapid method for evaluating internal quality and thickness of materials that can be performed in the field and the laboratory.

Semi-Automated Ultrasonic Testing

To provide a permanent archive of data, Baker Testing Services utilizes an SAUT system that is highly portable. The system is comprised of an 8-channel UT data acquisition / imaging system, which is capable of supporting fully-mechanized or semi-automated scanners. The system accommodates inspection of both simple and complex geometrical configurations to all existing codes and standards.

Providing accurate and reliable results, the semi-automated system is well suited for many applications including:

• Vessel and Tank Longitudinal Seam and Girth Welds
• Turbine Generator Retaining Rings
